Magick plays a very large role in my practice. As I am Theistic in my belief system, I subscribe to the idea that magick, or at least the potential for creating magick, is a very real and very usable tool which every human being has at his or her disposal from birth.
Although this potential is inherent, magick, like any other skill, must be honed and developed. Manipulating subtle energies takes will and precision and so we believe in developing a strong foundation in the basics of energy work.
In my practice, I employ a variety of magickal techniques in the pursuit of achieving my desired results in my endeavors. Along with such magickal practices as spellcasting, ritual, petitioning, shielding, psychic vampirism and cursing, I also use inhibitive techniques such as meditation to access the hidden realm of the subconscious.
Another practice which I count amongst my spiritual tools is the practice of Shamanic journeying and trance work. Shamanic journeying, as opposed to meditation, is an exhibitive technique designed to raise the vibrations of the spirit to such a degree by means of drumming, chanting or dancing as to allow for it to traverse the Otherworlds. The Otherworlds, as realms of spirit, are accessible only through Shamanic journeying. There are many purposes for visiting the Otherworlds. Some examples may be to directly converse with Demons, to interact with Spirit Guides and Animal Totems or to act as a psychopomp or intermediary for healing work.
As aforementioned, spellcrafting and spellcasting play major roles in my path. I employ the aid of a myriad of various herbs, stones and other magickal correspondences in the execution of my spells and we may also choose to make use of sachets or poppets. Candle magick is also of importance as is sex magick, sympathetic magick and any magick for personal gain as I believe that magick may be used freely for such.
I define magick in much the same way as did the great Aleister Crowley when he said that magick is "the Science and Art of causing Change to occur in conformity with Will".
So what does magick mean to you? What manner of magickal practices do you incorporate into your path (if any)?
